Direct Belgrade–Tashkent flight planned to open in 7–8 months

Regular air service between Belgrade and Tashkent could launch within the next seven to eight months. This was announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at the Serbia–Uzbekistan Business Forum in Belgrade.

According to the Serbian leader, the issue of launching a direct route could be resolved within the specified timeframe. Vučić expressed confidence that regular flights between the two capitals would begin operating no later than in seven to eight months.

The Serbian President called the establishment of direct air service an important condition for further rapprochement between Uzbekistan and Serbia. He emphasized that the new route would facilitate contacts between people, companies, and the economies of the two countries.

Vučić also anticipates growth in tourism exchange. According to him, after the opening of the direct connection, more Serbian citizens will be able to travel to Uzbekistan, including to Samarkand and Bukhara. At the same time, he expects an increase in the number of tourists from Uzbekistan visiting Serbia.

Another area of rapprochement between the two countries will be Uzbekistan's diplomatic presence in Belgrade. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced during his visit that there are plans to open a separate diplomatic mission in the Serbian capital, without waiting for the establishment of a full embassy.

According to the Uzbek leader, diplomats are expected to arrive in Belgrade as early as next week. They will assist Serbian companies in establishing and developing business contacts with partners from Uzbekistan.

Mirziyoyev's visit to Serbia was the first-ever visit by a President of Uzbekistan to the country in the history of bilateral relations. Following the talks, the parties announced the establishment of a strategic partnership.
