Serbia has offered Uzbekistan cooperation on ballistic missiles
Serbia is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in the defense industry, including the area of long-range ballistic missiles. Additionally, the parties intend to launch a direct Tashkent–Belgrade flight within seven to eight months, and Uzbekistan will open a separate diplomatic mission in the Serbian capital.
Serbia Offered Uzbekistan Cooperation on Ballistic Missiles
Serbia has declared its readiness to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan in the defense industry, including in the area of long-range ballistic missiles. This was announced on September 8 by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at the Uzbek-Serbian Business Forum in Belgrade.
Vučić noted that bilateral relations are "at the highest level in modern history."
"Today, we made a historic decision to establish strategic partnership relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan. This is not just a new status, but a conscious choice in favor of trust, mutual respect, and a shared future," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
According to him, the parties now need to fill the strategic partnership with concrete projects — investments, job creation, trade growth, and other areas of cooperation.
Aleksandar Vučić announced at the Uzbek-Serbian Business Forum that a direct flight between Belgrade and Tashkent could be launched within the next seven to eight months.
According to him, the launch of regular service should help develop business ties, tourism, and contacts between the citizens of the two countries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also stated that he had ordered to accelerate the opening of direct air service.
The President of Uzbekistan announced that he had decided to open a separate diplomatic mission of the country in Belgrade, without waiting for the opening of a full-fledged embassy.
According to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbek diplomats will be sent to Serbia as early as next week. One of their tasks will be to assist Serbian companies in establishing business ties with partners in Uzbekistan.
At the business forum, Aleksandar Vučić spoke separately about the opportunities for cooperation with Uzbekistan in the defense industry.
According to him, Serbia expects to start production of long-range ballistic missiles in about a year and is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in this direction. Vučić noted that Serbia already produces short-range missiles and receives technology transfers from a number of states.
"In a year, we will start production of long-range ballistic missiles and are ready to cooperate with you on this issue as well. This is news that we very rarely share with people in Serbia, but it testifies to our technological, substantive, and industrial progress. Our specialists have already achieved a lot, and I believe that, as I said, in a year we will be able to do this too. We are ready to cooperate in this area with our brothers and friends from Uzbekistan," Vučić stated.
During the visit, Aleksandar Vučić also presented Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Order of the Republic of Serbia on a Grand Collar — the country's highest state award. The President of Serbia stated that the award was presented for his contribution to the development of friendly relations between the two states.
