Delegations from "Uzatom" and "Rosatom" conducted a joint working visit to the construction site of the nuclear power engineers' town in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region. The parties discussed the implementation progress of the new-generation integrated NPP project and the development of urban infrastructure.
As reported by the "Uzatom" press service, the visit took place on October 22. The town is being built on an area of 200 hectares based on eco-urbanism principles. Residential buildings and infrastructure facilities are already under construction there.
It is planned to build about 10,000 apartments for nearly 33,000 residents. The town will feature energy-efficient multi-story residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, healthcare, sports, and cultural facilities, as well as recreation zones and green spaces.
The delegations inspected the NPP site and reviewed the progress of the work. Particular attention was paid to safety, quality, and compliance with environmental standards.
In parallel, the construction of external infrastructure is underway: 388 kilometers of power grids, a 110 kV substation, 21 kilometers of drinking water pipelines and 120 kilometers of industrial water pipelines, as well as 39.5 kilometers of motorways and 11 kilometers of railways.
The nuclear power engineers' town is envisioned as a high-tech area with smart grids, data centers, and energy storage systems. The project aims to strengthen energy security, create jobs, and improve the quality of life.
On Friday, October 23, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Director General of the Russian state corporation "Rosatom", Alexey Likhachev. The parties discussed the construction of the first integrated nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, as well as the accompanying infrastructure based on advanced technologies.
