Citizens growing cannabis in their backyards exposed in Bukhara

During operational measures conducted in the Bukhara region, cases related to the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants were detected in the Bukhara and Romitan districts. This was reported by the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that 46 cannabis bushes were found in the home and backyard of a citizen living in the Kunjikala neighborhood of the Bukhara district. They had reached a large size due to long-term cultivation. According to the conclusion of the appointed expertise, it was determined that these prohibited crops were grown for the purpose of subsequent sale and material gain.

Additionally, when the home and backyard of a citizen living in the Romitan district were inspected in the presence of impartial witnesses, it was revealed that he had also been illegally planting and cultivating cannabis. A dried substance wrapped in a blue plastic bag was also found in the home and seized as material evidence.

Currently, criminal cases have been initiated regarding these situations under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, 839 cannabis bushes were found in a home backyard in Namangan. It was also reported that 201 kg of cannabis was confiscated in Qashqadaryo, and 2 kg of hashish in Tashkent.
