China took almost all car imports in Uzbekistan
China has effectively taken over the Uzbek imported car market. China has almost completely occupied the imported car market in Uzbekistan. According to the National Statistics Committee, in January–July 2026, 65,876 passenger cars worth $920.4 million were imported into Uzbekistan from 29 countries. Of these, 63,039 vehicles came from China — accounting for 95.7% of all imports.
At the same time, electric vehicles became the main segment. Over the seven months, 46,749 electric vehicles were imported into the country, or about 71% of all imported passenger cars.
Another 10,987 vehicles were gasoline models, and 8,077 were hybrids. Other types of vehicles accounted for only 63 units.
The suppliers following China look much more modest: 765 cars were imported from the USA, 737 from South Korea, and 345 from Japan.
In other words, is almost every 17th imported car in Uzbekistan Chinese? No — in fact, approximately 16 out of every 17 imported cars were Chinese.
These data show a sharp change in the structure of the auto market: car imports into Uzbekistan are increasingly turning into imports of Chinese vehicles, primarily electric cars.
