Electric vehicle imports to Uzbekistan increased 1.7 times

The Customs Committee reported that imports of passenger cars into Uzbekistan for January–August 2026 rose to 1.103 billion dollars, mainly driven by electric vehicles.

Electric vehicle imports to Uzbekistan increased 1.7 times

For January–August 2026, imports of passenger cars to Uzbekistan reached 1.103 billion dollars, which is 72.6% more than in the same period last year, when the figure stood at 639.2 million dollars. These data are provided by the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

Electric vehicles accounted for the largest share in the import structure: their import in monetary terms grew by 71.5% — from 358.3 to 614.4 million dollars, and in quantitative terms — by 89.6%, from 28,920 to 54,826 units.

Imports of gasoline-powered cars increased by 6.1% in value terms — from 232.7 to 246.9 million dollars, with a 17.1% increase in quantity, from 11,163 to 13,070 units.

The most notable growth in relative terms was shown by imports of hybrid cars running on gasoline and electricity: their value increased 5.2 times — from 46.1 to 240.0 million dollars, and their quantity — 5.5 times, from 2,023 to 11,130 units.

In contrast, imports of diesel-powered cars decreased: in value terms — by 29.1%, from 2.1 to 1.5 million dollars, and in quantity — by 78.0%, from 91 to 20 units.
