Uzbekistan is experiencing a boom in electric vehicle (EV) activity, with both imports and sales seeing significant increases.

According to a report from the State Customs Committee, Uzbekistan imported 46,749 electric vehicles between January and July 2026, totaling $527.2 million. This averages out to approximately $11,300 per vehicle. This marks a substantial rise compared to the same period in 2025, when the country imported 20,858 EVs valued at $292.9 million, with an average unit price of about $14,000.

These figures indicate that EV import volumes surged by nearly 2.2 times year-on-year during the first seven months of 2025 and 2026. Concurrently, the average import price per vehicle decreased by roughly $2,700.

The growth isn't limited to imports; electric vehicle sales have also seen a sharp uptick. In June alone, 8,400 electric vehicles were sold across both primary and secondary markets, representing an increase of approximately 63.5% over May. For the first half of 2026, over 40,000 electric vehicles were sold in Uzbekistan, a 40% rise compared to the same period last year.

Market activity has intensified across most of Uzbekistan's provinces. While Syrdarya province was the sole exception, experiencing a 2.9% market contraction, other regions saw robust growth. Jizzakh province led with a 101% increase in sales, followed by Bukhara (64.6%) and Fergana (58.5%).

Despite widespread growth, the majority of electric vehicle sales continue to be concentrated in Tashkent. The capital city accounted for nearly 63% of the national market in June, with sales climbing 78% from May to reach 5,300 vehicles.
