**Bukhara to host the CIS summit in 2027**
In 2027, the city of Bukhara will host the next summit of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The meeting will be held on October 8–9 under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan. This was announced by CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev on October 9 in the Avaza region of Turkmenistan.
According to the established procedure, starting from January 1, 2027, the chairmanship of the CIS will pass from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan. Thus, the country will once again assume an important task in shaping the agenda of multilateral cooperation within the Commonwealth and coordinating the organization's activities.
Uzbekistan will chair the CIS for the second time. The country first chaired the organization in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic.
Holding the 2027 summit in Bukhara will also increase the city's importance as a venue for international events. Bukhara, which has an ancient history and rich cultural heritage, can serve as a platform not only for political dialogue but also for the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation through the meeting of heads of state. No additional information has been provided yet regarding the main issues and the agenda of the meetings within the framework of the summit.
