Blast in Chernihiv: Two people, including a 4-year-old girl, killed
A 39-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl were killed in a private house in Chernihiv as a result of Russian troops' shelling. A 14-year-old girl was hospitalized. Four more people were injured in the city's subsequent shelling, and people may be trapped under the rubble.
**Attack on Chernihiv: 4-year-old girl and woman killed**
On the night and morning of August 26, Russian troops launched an attack on a number of regions of Ukraine.
According to the press service of the Chernihiv city council, a fire broke out in a private house as a result of an attack on the city in the early morning. The house was almost completely destroyed by fire. Two of the three people who were in the house at the time of the attack - a 39-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl - died on the spot. A 14-year-old girl was injured and hospitalized.
Later, Chernihiv was hit again. According to the head of the city's military administration, Dmitry Bryzhinsky, the attack damaged a warehouse and injured four people. According to the Chernihiv city council, a second attack was launched in the morning at the same location, and people may have been trapped under the rubble.
Russian troops also struck the Donetsk and Kherson regions. The head of the Kherson regional military administration, Alexander Prokudin, reported that one person was killed and 12 others were injured in Russian attacks over the past 24 hours. According to him, the strikes targeted important and social infrastructure facilities, as well as residential areas. As a result, eight apartment buildings and five private houses were damaged. The day before, 15 people were evacuated from communities in the area.
Two people were injured as a result of an air strike on the city of Slavyansk in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region. According to the head of the city's military administration, Vadim Lyakh, the explosions occurred in the city center and at least 12 apartment buildings were damaged.
Night air strikes were also recorded in Kiev. According to the city's mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, fragments of a drone fell on a 16-story residential building in the Goloseyevsky district. The walls on the 14th floor of the building were damaged and windows were broken. One woman was injured, and the resulting fire was extinguished.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian military launched 162 strike and imitation drones into Ukraine on the night of August 26. These included Shahed, Gerbera, and Parody drones. According to the Ukrainian side, the drones were launched from Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russian-controlled Donetsk, and the Gvardeyskoye region in annexed Crimea.
