Nighttime rocket attack on Kiev: at least one person killed

Russian forces launched ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on the night of August 22. Initial reports indicate that at least one person was killed and several others were injured in the strike.

Nighttime missile attack on Kiev: one person killed

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of Saturday, August 22, a ballistic missile attack was launched on Kiev. Due to the threat of an attack, an air alert was declared in the Ukrainian capital.

The Kiev city military administration warned the population about the threat of the use of ballistic weapons and asked citizens to immediately move to nearby shelters and stay there until the air alert is lifted.

After the air alert was declared, a series of powerful explosions were heard in Kiev. According to reports, at least five powerful explosions were recorded in the city.

According to preliminary data, one person was killed in the Darnytsia district of Kiev. Several people were also injured to varying degrees. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out in one of the warehouses in the district.

Ukrainian media also reported explosions in the cities of Chernihiv and Mykolaiv overnight. There are no details yet on the extent of possible casualties and damage in these areas.

In addition, on the night of August 22, Russian troops carried out a drone strike on the village of Kushugum in the Zaporizhia region. According to the head of the Zaporizhia regional military administration, Ivan Fyodorov, one person was killed and four others were injured in the drone strike.

Thus, according to preliminary information released by Ukrainian authorities, at least two people were killed and several others were injured in the overnight attacks in Kyiv and Zaporizhia regions.
