"BioPharma City" builds cooperation with South Korean clusters

Representatives of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan discussed prospects for cooperation with leading medical and pharmaceutical clusters in South Korea.

The negotiations took place on September 3 as part of an official trip of the Uzbek delegation to the Republic of Korea.

The Uzbek side held meetings with representatives of KBIO Health, operating on the basis of the Osong Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, as well as K-MEDI hub — Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation.

During the talks, the participants got acquainted with the infrastructure of the Korean clusters, including modern pharmaceutical and biotechnological sites, research laboratories, and innovative production facilities.

One of the key issues was the establishment of direct cluster-to-cluster cooperation between the Uzbek "BioPharma City" and Korean medical and pharmaceutical clusters. The parties reviewed the possibilities of joint development of R&D infrastructure, improving the operation of laboratories and vivariums, training specialists, and expanding personnel exchange.

A special emphasis was placed on joint research and development projects. In particular, the parties discussed cooperation in the development of mRNA vaccines, oncology research, the creation of drug delivery systems, and the study of medicinal plants and bioactive compounds.

In addition, the negotiators touched upon technology transfer issues, as well as conducting joint training sessions and seminars for specialists.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to use advanced Korean experience for the further development of the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries of Uzbekistan.

It is also planned to implement joint scientific programs and develop long-term cooperation between "BioPharma City" and the medical and pharmaceutical clusters of South Korea.
