Barcelona unable to register new player - Marca

Barcelona are having trouble signing new signing Dominik Livaković, according to Marca.

The Catalan club officially announced the transfer of the Croatian goalkeeper on August 27. Initially, the club did not plan to sign a new goalkeeper this summer. However, sporting director Deco decided to make the 31-year-old Livaković a permanent signing in order to prepare a suitable replacement for Wojciech Szczesny in the future.

According to the initial plan, the Croatian player was supposed to join the team in the 2027/2028 season, when Szczesny's contract expires. However, the situation has changed and Barcelona has decided to sign him this season. According to Marca, the club is currently unable to sign a new player due to the strict rules of the Spanish championship regarding financial fair play and salary caps.

If Barcelona cannot make room in their salary cap before the transfer window closes, Livaković will move to another team on loan.

It is worth noting that the Catalans paid 2 million euros to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe for this transfer. The Turkish club is expected to receive an additional bonus of the same amount if certain conditions are met in the contract.
