Barcelona cannot sign the 30-year-old striker due to financial constraints, according to Bild.

After the departure of Polish player Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona management is looking for a suitable striker to replace him. According to Bild, one of the main targets of the club's sporting director Deco was Borussia Dortmund striker Sergiu Girassi, but the transfer did not take place due to financial difficulties.

According to the source, the Catalans sent an initial request for the 30-year-old Guinean striker, but the process did not reach the stage of full-fledged negotiations. The player's salary demands are said to be the main obstacle. The fact is that Girassi's annual salary is about 10 million euros, which does not correspond to the current financial capabilities of Barcelona. In addition, his contract includes a compensation of 50 million euros. Following these circumstances, the “blue and orange” were forced to abandon this transfer.

It is noted that the situation with Girassi is Deco’s second failure in the summer transfer window. Earlier, Barcelona tried to transfer Argentine striker Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, but these negotiations also ended in vain.

For information, Girassi joined Borussia from Stuttgart in 2024 and quickly became one of the team’s key players. In the last season, he played in a total of 46 matches in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 6 assists. His current contract with Dortmund is until 2028.
