Authorities are establishing the cause of the explosion under the asphalt on Glinka Street in Tashkent

The causes of the explosion under the asphalt on Glinka Street in Tashkent are being established. In the summer, utility networks and pipes were renovated here. The new pipes were being tested for strength; the networks have not yet been put into operation. Veolia Energy Tashkent stated that the pipelines are intact, were not filled, and were not under pressure.

The causes of the explosion under the road surface on Glinka Street in Tashkent, which occurred on Thursday, are being established, the press service of the Yakkasaray district khokimiyat reported. District Khokim Nilufar Allabergenova visited the site and inspected the consequences of the incident.

The khokimiyat recalled that work had recently been carried out on Glinka Street to upgrade outdated utility networks and replace pipes. The new pipes were tested for strength and functionality, while the networks had not yet been put into operation.

In videos published on social networks, a sound resembling an explosion is heard, followed by dust visible over the scene.

"Gazeta" reports that the asphalt in the section collapsed, and its debris scattered for tens of meters. Several passing cars were damaged, and one casualty has been officially reported. Work is currently underway to eliminate the consequences of the accident. The section of the street is closed, and drivers are asked to bypass it.

A reader of "Gazeta" sent photos of Glinka Street taken in early August, when repair work was underway there. The installed fence reads "Industrial Construction".

Tashkent's heating, water, and gas supply enterprises reported that the incident was not related to their networks.

Veolia Energy Tashkent, which services the capital's heating networks, stated late in the evening that the heating pipelines are intact and undamaged, and the 1,240-meter main installed this year is empty (without water and pressure).

"Thus, the incident is not related to the operation or rupture of heating networks," the company noted.
