In honor of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, Su-25 attack aircraft of the country's Air Force flew over New Tashkent, painting the sky in the colors of the national flag.
The Mirzo-Ulugbek District Administration of Tashkent granted permission to repaint one of Nikolai Zharsky's mosaics on the side of a multi-story building. Following Gazeta's inquiries to government agencies and questions from residents, the work was suspended, but part of the side facade had already been painted over.
In the Yunus Rajabi mahalla in the Yakkasaray district, a football field was renovated after residents had spent four years fighting for development in court. Thanks to sponsorship funds, a new surface was laid, fencing, and benches were installed.
A major fire occurred in a shopping mall located in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region. It housed more than 10 stores offering furniture, sporting goods, mobile device accessories, gifts, and children's products.
The khokims' methods of engaging with the public were hotly debated on social media. The khokim of the Shahrisabz district, while making his rounds in the mahalla, entered a resident's home without permission and ordered fines for an uncleaned yard. The khokim of the Chinaz district ordered "shameful" posters to be placed on unkempt houses to motivate residents to maintain cleanliness.
Construction of a new airport passenger terminal continues in Andijan. Its area will be eight times larger than the previous one, and its capacity will be five times greater. Opening is scheduled for spring 2027.
The area around the Oksaroy residence has begun to be transformed into an open public park. Nearly 2 kilometers of fencing, which for many years had been a green space closed to most city residents, have been dismantled along its boundaries. A white mulberry tree, approximately 350 years old and growing in the Blue Domes Park, has been designated a state natural monument.
Fans of film, video games, comics, anime, and cosplay gathered at Comic Con Tashkent 2026. Special guests included actors from the series "Stranger Things" and "Game of Thrones."
Shakhzod Nurmatov and Sobir Safaraliev became world champions in the men's lightweight double sculls (LM2x). In the final in Amsterdam, they clocked 6:21.93, beating representatives from Germany and the United States.
