Underground brewery shut down in Tashkent

Illegal beer production was uncovered in a house in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent. 22 varieties of the beverage were seized, which failed to meet safety requirements and posed a danger for consumption.

The illegal operation was discovered during an operational event conducted by officers of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office for Tashkent in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.

The artisanal production of beer products was organized by a resident of the capital together with accomplices in a house on "Salar Buyi" Street. 22 varieties of beer were found on the premises, as well as raw materials and other items used in the manufacturing process. According to the agency, the products were unfit for consumption.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this fact under an article providing for liability for the production or sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements.

An investigation is currently underway. Law enforcement officers have yet to establish all the circumstances of the illegal production and potential distribution channels of the products.

Earlier, an underground production of alcoholic beverages with counterfeit excise stamps was discovered in the Fergana region.
