An explanation was provided regarding students commuting to school on donkeys in Samarkand

After a video showing students going to school on donkeys spread on social networks and caused widespread discussion, the Preschool and School Education Department of Samarkand Region reacted to the situation.

It is reported that the situation in the video occurred at general secondary school No. 84 in Olmosuvon village of the "Burgansoy" neighborhood citizens' gathering, located 40 kilometers away from the center of the Kattakurgan district. This area borders the Koshrabot district and consists of small and scattered villages on mountain slopes. Internal roads mainly consist of pathways.

Currently, 92 students study in the main school, and 21 students study in the school branch. The distance between the school branch and the main building is 3 kilometers, and the longest distance to commute to the main building is 4 kilometers. A total of 74 students study in grades 5–11. Among them, 45 students from Olmosuvon village, 13 students from Koshamazor village in the branch area, 17 students from Tolali village, and 17 students from Jilqihaydar village commute to the main building.

"Due to the mountainous terrain and the scattered location of settlements, most of the local population, including students, use these mounts in their daily movement," the explanation says.

It is noted that currently, relevant organizations are considering a program of appropriate measures to ensure the safe and convenient commute of students to school in these remote and mountainous areas, as well as to improve the road infrastructure.
