"American researchers intend to reconstruct the images of our ancestors with AI" - what are the plans in digital art?

According to Rauf Nabiyev, head of the Creative Union of Digital Arts, who spoke with Kun.uz in New York, an Uzbek AI school will be opened in Boston. Additionally, American researchers will visit Uzbekistan to study its cultural system. Nabiyev also signed a number of memorandums in the US; next year, a film about Navoi is expected to be produced and presented in America.

"American researchers want to reconstruct the images of our ancestors using AI" — what are the plans in digital art?

The Digital Art Creative Union, established after the President's meeting with cultural representatives this year, is also engaged in major artificial intelligence projects. The head of the union visited the United States last week and signed various agreements and memorandums.

Speaking to Kun.uz in New York, Nabiyev spoke about the contents of the documents in America, the progress of the union's activities, and future plans. According to him, an Uzbek AI school will be opened in Boston. Uzbek specialists will come and teach the Americans.

"Our school is in the TOP 10. That is, the US also recognizes our work, and look, they invited us to the school in Boston, where we will come and teach," says Rauf Nabiyev.

Also, a film about Alisher Navoi will be created in the near future with the help of AI. Its presentation is planned to be held in America. The chairman of the union added that a cooperation agreement was also signed with a US research institute. According to it, American researchers will now come to Uzbekistan to study and analyze the cultural system.

"Not Uzbeks, but Americans will go and analyze why our theater used to be at a different level and has now dropped to this level, why no one watches our cinema — they will analyze everything. For example, they will also tell us what awaits our cultural system in the next 10 years," he says.

The chairman added that one of the biggest projects could be the reconstruction of the images of our ancestors with the help of AI. However, this requires permission from the government, so it remains at the proposal stage for now.

In an era when AI is advanced, how correct is the approach of involving it in culture?

According to the chairman of the union, if used not blindly, but for the purpose of solving problems, improving, and speeding up work, AI justifies itself.

"First of all, the concept needs to be corrected; here people are making vegetables talk with AI and doing similar things. People also misunderstand that AI is needed for this. AI is a huge opportunity. We are even making movies," says Rauf Nabiyev.

However, the chairman of the union also added that emotion, taste, and energy should be preserved in works, which is why AI will never prevail over creativity. According to him, by properly developing AI in time, tens of millions of dollars leaving the country can be saved.

"At a time when everyone is working on AI and moving forward, it is inappropriate for us to discuss whether it is necessary or not. Now there is no going back," he adds.
