A woman who hit a man in response to harassment was acquitted in Namangan.

In Namangan, a court acquitted a woman who struck a man in response to harassment.

In Namangan, an 18-year-old bus passenger struck a 66-year-old man after he grabbed her by the thigh. The court initially fined both, but an appellate court ruled the woman's actions as necessary self-defense. After reviewing the complaint, the case against the woman was dismissed, and the man received a more severe sentence.

The incident occurred on July 27. As a result of the woman's strike, the man sustained minor injuries that did not affect his health.

The Namangan City Criminal Court

found both guilty. The woman was fined 0.5 basic rates (BRV)—206,000 soums. The man was found guilty of sexual harassment and fined 2 BRV—824,000 soums. However, the case did not end there. The woman appealed the court's decision, and the case was reviewed by the appellate court of the Namangan Regional Court.

During the retrial, the court concluded that the woman struck the man in self-defense and dismissed the administrative proceedings.

At the same time, the court reviewed the man's sentence, finding it excessively lenient and imposed without regard for the public danger of the crime. Ultimately, the first-instance decision was overturned, and the man's sentence was increased.

Earlier, a court in the Fergana Region sentenced a man who harassed his ex-wife.
