The former khokim of Namangan was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
The court found the former khokim guilty of bribery, embezzlement, fraud, abuse of power, abuse of authority, negligence, and forgery. Six other defendants received sentences ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 years.
The former head of the Namangan administration received an 11-year prison sentence.
According to the court's press service, on August 7, the Uzbekistan District Criminal Court sentenced the former mayor of Namangan, A.O., born in 1972. He was found guilty under seven articles of the Criminal Code.
He was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He was also disqualified from holding positions involving financial liability for three years.
Three other defendants in the case were sentenced to prison terms ranging from seven to 10.5 years. Two received two and a half years of correctional labor, and one received three years of restricted freedom.
The sentence may be appealed through the appellate or cassation courts in the Fergana Regional Court.
