Repeat offender with a large batch of hashish detained in a Tashkent hotel
In one of the hotels in the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent, a man was detained while handing over 1.2 kilograms of hashish to a buyer. He had previously been convicted for the illicit trafficking of a large consignment of drugs.
The operation was conducted by officers of the Customs Committee, the State Security Service, and internal affairs agencies.
According to the agencies, the man agreed to sell three packages of hashish and managed to receive part of the agreed amount prior to his arrest.
According to experts, the seized substance would have been enough for approximately 8.6 thousand doses. The hashish was confiscated as material evidence. A criminal case has been opened on the fact, and an investigation is underway.
Earlier in the Surkhandarya region, an attempt to import 52.6 kilograms of hashish and opium from Afghanistan, hidden under the floor of a truck trailer, was thwarted.
In total, since the beginning of 2026, customs authorities, together with other law enforcement agencies, have foiled 844 cases of illicit trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, seizing more than 2.2 tons of banned substances.
