In Tashkent region, as a result of two special operations, law enforcement officers thwarted the activities of a transnational drug cartel and seized 15 kilograms of narcotic substances.

Joint operational-search activities were conducted by officers of the Operational-Search Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Customs Committee. In the first incident, on the Tashkent–Andijan highway within the city of Angren, a previously convicted leader of a criminal group was detained along with accomplices born in 1973 and 1985, who arrived in a Tracker car. The suspects were caught red-handed as they retrieved a large shipment of smuggled hashish weighing 13 kilograms, delivered from a neighboring republic, from a stash.

During the second operation in the Buka district of Tashkent region, operatives detained a previously convicted drug dealer born in 1972 while attempting to sell 2 kilograms of opium to a buyer born in 1976 for 20 thousand US dollars. In total, 15 kilograms of opium and hashish were seized from illicit trafficking, which amounts to about 75 thousand single doses. A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under Part 6 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the suspects have been taken into custody.
