Nearly 95 kilograms of hidden drugs detected in Tashkent region

In the Tashkent region, customs officers seized nearly 95 kilograms of the narcotic drug hashish from illegal circulation. This was reported by the press service of the committee.

According to the report, during a joint operation conducted by officers of the Customs Committee's Anti-Smuggling Department and the State Security Service, it was discovered that 4 utility sacks had been hidden among trees in a field in the Qibray district. The sacks contained 109 packages, and according to the conclusion of the Central Customs Laboratory, the substance in the packages was confirmed to be nearly 95 kilograms of the narcotic drug hashish.

In order to identify the individuals coming to retrieve the drugs, this area was kept under continuous surveillance for several days. Eight days later, two citizens who arrived to pick up the drugs were apprehended by the operation participants.

Regarding the incident, a criminal case was initiated by the Investigation and Administrative Practice Department of the Customs Committee and sent to the investigative body. During the investigation, the individual who gave the order to retrieve these substances from the hiding place was also identified and detained. He had previously been criminally prosecuted for gasoline smuggling.

According to the committee, 95 kilograms of hashish represents nearly 700,000 doses. In other words, if this amount of drugs had entered the black market, it could have posed a serious threat to the lives and destinies of hundreds of thousands of people. According to estimates, the black market value of these drugs could have exceeded 10 million US dollars by the time they reached the final consumer.

Earlier, it was reported that customs officers had prevented the smuggling of over 13 kilograms of drugs from Thailand into Uzbekistan. According to the Drug and Firearms Control Agency, in the eight months of 2026, 12,104 crimes and 1,410 administrative offenses related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic, and potent substances were detected in Uzbekistan.
