Illegal drug trafficking worth 500 million soums stopped in Tashkent city and region

The trade in illegal drugs worth a total of 500 million soums has been stopped in Tashkent city and region. This was reported by the Customs Committee.

A car was stopped by customs, security and internal affairs officers in the Yangihayot district of the capital. As a result of the inspection, 60 drugs of two types, manufactured abroad, without documents and without guaranteed quality, were found in the citizen’s bag.

The search continued and the suspect’s rented apartment was inspected. As a result, it was determined that there were a total of 1,211 drugs of 24 names, manufactured abroad, without documents in the house.

The apartment belonging to the suspect’s child in the Zangiota district of the Tashkent region was also inspected. A total of 9,590 drugs of three names, manufactured abroad, without any documents, were found there.

“During the operational measures, a total of 10,861 medicines of 29 names were seized from illegal circulation. According to preliminary estimates, the total value of these medicines amounted to 500 million soums. Currently, customs authorities are conducting an investigation into the case,” the report says.

During the operational measures, another similar case was identified in the Tashkent region. A citizen who entered Uzbekistan on foot through the Navoi border customs post was stopped and examined by customs officers. It was found that the citizen had 80 boxes of medicines hidden in his legs. The estimated value of the medicines is 20 million soums. Customs authorities are also conducting an investigation into this case.

Earlier, 577 million soums of undocumented and unguaranteed medicines were discovered in Namangan.
