400 million soums worth of undeclared medicines seized in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Law enforcement officers in Tashkent have stopped the illegal circulation of about 11,900 undeclared medicines worth a total of about 400 million soums, the Customs Committee reported.
Officers of the Main Department for Combating Smuggling of the Customs Committee, in cooperation with representatives of the State Security Service and the National Guard, carried out operational-search measures.
During a search of a private house in the Shaykhontohur district, 11,848 medicines of 28 types manufactured abroad and without appropriate documents were found.
In addition, when another suspect's car was searched, law enforcement officers discovered 20 medicines without documents confirming their quality and legality of origin.
A total of 11,868 drugs of 29 types were seized from illegal circulation. According to preliminary estimates, the value of the seized drugs is about 400 million soums.
All drugs were placed for temporary storage as material evidence. Investigations are underway in this case, pending investigation.
