A new international airline may be established in Uzbekistan in cooperation with Afghanistan
It is planned to establish a new international airline in Fergana. This was reported by the press service of the regional administration.
According to the report, on September 4, the regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov received a delegation led by the head of Afghanistan's Kam Air company, Omar Mohammad Sulaymon. Timur Khalilov, head of the commercial activity department of Uzbekistan Airports JSC, also attended the meeting.
During the visit of the Fergana region delegation to Afghanistan on July 26–27, a number of meetings were held to develop trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and to expand mutually beneficial relations. During the dialogue, issues of implementing the agreements reached during that visit, as well as expanding cooperation in the aviation sector, were reviewed.
In particular, views were exchanged on the initiative to establish a new international airline in Fergana. The available opportunities, necessary infrastructure, and processes for establishing services to implement the project were discussed.
Attention was focused on measures to bring the project to the practical stage with the participation of relevant organizations and specialists, and to organize the work based on international standards. Future issues were agreed upon during the meeting.
On August 15, the governor of Fergana region received the chairman of Kam Air, Zamaray Kamgar, and the head of Afghanistan's Spinzar Kunduz state corporation, Abdul Hafiz Faryod. During the meeting, issues of bringing cooperation to a practical stage and launching new joint investment projects were discussed.
Kam Air is one of Afghanistan's large private airlines. The company was established in 2003 and is the country's first private commercial airline. This airline also operates flights on the Kabul—Tashkent route. The company announced that it had increased the number of flights on this route to three times a week starting from July 2, 2026.
