A modern bridge connecting the center of Samarkand with the "Shirin" massif is being built

During his visit to Samarkand region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction work of the bridge being built over the Qoradaryo River.

This large-scale facility is being constructed to effectively manage traffic flow, ensure road safety, and reduce traffic congestion. The bridge will connect the newly built "Shirin" massif with the city of Samarkand and the international airport.

The bridge, with a project value of 310 billion soums, is 780 meters long, 29.8 meters wide, and 2 meters high. The carriageway consists of 4 lanes and will have a capacity to handle up to 25,000 vehicles per day.

Once the new facility is commissioned, the distance from the town of Shirin to the center will decrease from 23 kilometers to 4 kilometers, and travel time will be reduced by 30 minutes.

The head of state was informed about the technical solutions of the project and the possibilities of traffic flow management.

A conversation with local community activists also took place here.

“In 2016, only 1 million 200 thousand tourists came to Uzbekistan. Now, 5 million tourists have visited Samarkand alone in one year. When could we have imagined such results? Of course, today the world is developing on the basis of competition. We must also strengthen our position in this competition.

If we develop projects correctly and organize logistics wisely, we will reduce costs and make distances shorter for our people. After all, this city is for the people!

This bridge was one of my dreams. Today, this dream has come true,” the president said.

Continuing his thoughts on how the city should serve the people, Shavkat Mirziyoyev also touched upon the responsibility of every individual to the nation and the country.

“In my speech yesterday, I repeatedly emphasized the words 'own', 'ourselves', 'our identity', and 'our own'. We must live in the spirit of the ideas: 'I am from Uzbekistan, I will strive for my people, I will study for my people, I will search for my future',” the president said.
