Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Samarkand

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev traveled to the Samarkand region on Sunday.

As is customary, the head of state first visited the Imam Bukhari memorial complex. Verses from the Quran were recited, and prayers were made.

During the visit, the head of state was informed about the implementation of instructions given regarding the effective use of the complex, further increasing its tourist potential, and developing Islamic enlightenment and pilgrimage tourism by preserving, studying, and promoting Imam Bukhari's rich scientific heritage to the world.

The leader of the country emphasized the necessity of consistently continuing these efforts.

"This great personality left us all his knowledge and wisdom as a heritage. If we continue this knowledge, we will never falter.

Every time I visit our great ancestor, I pray that our people's lives be blessed and that they prosper.

We will do much more to preserve and promote the heritage of our great ancestors. We will create conditions for people from all over the world to come to Uzbekistan, see, and visit the Center of Islamic Civilization and the Imam Bukhari complex,"

said the head of our state.

Newly built on the President's initiative, the complex, as one of the sacred sites of the Islamic world, is always crowded with local and foreign pilgrims. While the complex previously served 12,000 pilgrims a day, this figure now exceeds 65,000.

The complex includes a 10,000-seat mosque, a grand mausoleum, four minarets—each 75 meters high—and blue domes that impart a unique grandeur to the structure. An innovative museum, organized on the basis of advanced information technologies, extensively covers the history of our sacred religion, the lives of the prophets, and Imam Bukhari's activities as a Hadith scholar, displaying rare exhibits.

Currently, comprehensive, convenient conditions for pilgrims and services meeting international standards have been established in the complex. More than 20 modern hotels are operating in the area of the shrine.
