The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, together with their spouses, visited the world-famous historical monuments of Bukhara - the Somoni Mausoleum, the Ark Kurgan, the Poyi Kalon and Labi Khavuz complexes, as well as the Kukaldash Madrasah.

The high-ranking guests were provided with detailed information about the history, architectural features of these unique monuments, as well as their significance in the development of science, culture and urban planning in the East.

The visit began with the Somoni Mausoleum, built by Ismail Somoni. This monument was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993.

After that, the heads of state visited the ancient Ark Fortress, which has been the political and administrative center of Bukhara for many centuries. According to archaeological and historical data, the fortress was formed over a long period of time and served as the residence of the Bukhara rulers from the recent past. Today, the Ark is one of the most famous monuments of the city and an important part of the historical center of Bukhara.

The Poi Kalon complex is one of the most impressive architectural complexes in Central Asia. The famous Kalon minaret, built in 1127, is the most striking structure of the complex, and for centuries it has served not only as an example of Bukhara architecture, but also as a real "visiting card" of the city.

The ensemble also includes the Kalon Mosque and the Mir Arab Madrasah, dating back to the early 16th century. This complex is rightfully considered one of the gems of historical Bukhara during the Shaybanid era.

The Labi Khavuz complex also made a great impression on the distinguished guests. It was built around an ancient pond and is one of the most famous public places in old Bukhara.

Here are located the Kukaldash Madrasah, the Nodir Devanbegi Madrasah and the Khanaqah. This corner of the city has been a place that has attracted residents, tourists and scholars for centuries and has preserved the unique atmosphere of medieval Bukhara to this day.

During the visit, samples of folk crafts and the features of artistic decorations on historical monuments were also demonstrated.

The Azerbaijani guests were told about the centuries-old history of Bukhara as one of the largest scientific, educational and trade centers of Islamic civilization on the Great Silk Road.
