Mirziyoyev and Aliyev toured key historical sites in Bukhara
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by their wives, visited the main historical landmarks of Bukhara. The heads of state were introduced to the history of this ancient city, its architectural features, and its significance in the development of science, culture, and trade in the East.
Their program began with a visit to the Samanid Mausoleum, built under the direction of Ismail Samani. This monument was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993.
The presidents then toured the Ark Fortress, which served as the political and administrative center of Bukhara for many centuries, as well as the residence of local rulers.
The guests also visited the Poi Kalyan architectural complex, including the Kalyan Minaret, built in 1127, the Kalyan Mosque, and the Miri Arab Madrasah. This complex is recognized as one of the most significant monuments of historical Bukhara.
In the Lyabi-Khauz district, the presidents toured the complex, which is built around an ancient reservoir. The Kukeldash Madrasah and the Nadir Divanbegi Madrasah and Khanaka are located here.
During the tour, the Azerbaijani delegation was shown examples of folk crafts and the decorative features of historic buildings. Particular attention was paid to Bukhara's centuries-old role as one of the largest centers of science, education, and trade in the Islamic world along the Great Silk Road.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his wife arrived in Bukhara, where they were met by Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife. In this city, the leaders continued their state visit, visiting historical sites and observing industrial enterprises.
