A center for growing seedlings has been opened in the Guzar district

During his trip to the Kashkadarya region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a seedling production center established in the Guzar district as part of the "Yashil Makon" nationwide project and learned about its activities. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

A seedling cultivation center has opened in the Guzar district

"By the decree of the head of state dated September 23, 2026, tasks were defined to strengthen the role of mahallas in greening and expanding green areas based on the '3–30–300' principle. The activities of the new center are aimed at growing high-quality seedlings based on the needs of mahallas, resolving issues of tree care, and ensuring employment for the population," the report says.

It is noted that the complex was built taking into account foreign experience on an area of 65 hectares. The cost of the project is 9.5 billion soums. About 100 jobs have been created here.

Ornamental trees are grown on 50 hectares, fruit trees on five, and shrub and flower seedlings on another three hectares. At the first stage, it is planned to grow 1.6 million tree and plant seedlings, and later increase this figure to 5 million. The center features 41 types of ornamental and coniferous trees.

Open areas for growing plants, a greenhouse, facilities for seed germination, and shading structures for seedlings have been built on the territory of the complex. Three membrane-type reservoirs with a total capacity of 4.2 thousand cubic meters have also been equipped, and a drip irrigation system has been implemented on an area of 20 hectares. In addition, equipment for producing compost and mulch, as well as solar panels, are used here.

Modern technologies make it possible to grow seedlings year-round, including outside the planting season. According to calculations, with this approach, cultivation volumes increase by 8-10 times compared to traditional methods, while water consumption is reduced by three times. This is expected to reduce the cost of seedlings by 30-40 percent.

The center has organized the provision of individual services for the greening of mahallas. These include the supply of tree and shrub seedlings, treatment of damaged trees, soil mulching, and installation of drip irrigation systems. In the future, a mentor-forester will be assigned to each mahalla, and training sessions for members of the "mahalla seven" will be held before each planting season.

The population is also involved in the process of growing seedlings. Residents are provided with young plants based on cooperation agreements. After one or two seasons of care in household plots, when the plants become ready seedlings, their buyout is guaranteed. This will allow families to receive an additional source of income.

The head of state reviewed the conditions created in the center and emphasized that planting trees and creating gardens is a good tradition of our people.
