Within the framework of the autumn season of the "Yashil Makon" nationwide project, 140 million tree seedlings will be planted in Uzbekistan. Tree planting activities will begin gradually by region starting November 1. Micro-forests and a "Yashil Lot" system will be introduced in neighborhoods.

140 million saplings to be planted in the autumn season in Uzbekistan
Within the framework of the nationwide project "Yashil Makon", 140 million saplings are planned to be planted in Uzbekistan during the autumn season of 2026. This was reported by the Agency for Forestry and Expansion of Green Areas, and Combating Desertification.
It is noted that in accordance with the President's Decree No. 206 dated September 23, 2026, "On measures to strengthen the role of mahallas in implementing the nationwide project 'Yashil Makon' and radically increase the greenness level of regions," autumn tree planting works are being organized based on new approaches.
The international standard "3–30–300" has been introduced, and considering that humidity levels during the autumn and winter months increase survival rates, the planting of 140 million saplings nationwide has been specified.
Taking into account the climatic conditions of the regions, the tree planting season will begin on the following dates:
From November 1: in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region;
From November 5: in Bukhara and Navoiy regions;
From November 10: in Andijan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Namangan, Tashkent, Fergana regions, and Tashkent city;
From November 20: in Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions.
In order to create a favorable ecological environment for the population, 257 "Green Parks" and "Green Public Parks" will be created in the autumn season of 2026, and their number will be brought to 1,023 by 2030.
Furthermore, by 2030, at least 5 shaded promenade streets with a length of no less than 10 kilometers will be established in each district and city. Green programs for districts and cities will be developed by November 1 for 2026, and subsequently by March 1 every year. They will envisage water-saving irrigation systems that collect and recycle rain, snow, and wastewater.
New mechanisms have been introduced for caring for saplings and forming the demands of mahallas. Starting from October 1, 2026, nearly 4,200 "forester mentors" have been assigned to 8,992 mahallas in the republic to assist the population and the "mahalla seven".
From January 1, 2027, the "Mahalla Greening" package will be introduced based on the principle "Mahalla — the customer of reforms." Allocated funds will be transferred to the Fund for Solving Socio-Economic Problems of the Mahalla. Based on orders from mahallas, the Forestry Agency will provide services for delivering saplings, protecting them from diseases and pests, and supplying irrigation tools within the framework of the "Yashil — Mahalla" program.
Mahalla micro-forests will be established in mahallas with limited land area, between apartment buildings, and in the yards of schools and kindergartens. Small public parks will be created in areas where land allocation is not possible or in areas covered with concrete and asphalt.
In addition, from January 1, 2027, the "Yashil Lot" system will be launched on the initiative of the population and entrepreneurs. Available land plots will be allocated to individuals and legal entities on a contractual basis for creating a "green park" through naming. In this process, lands will not be granted as property, and construction or installation of structures on them will be prohibited.
During a presentation held before President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 21, it was stated that priority would be given to greening sidewalks and crowded places in the "Yashil Makon" project.
The proposal to introduce a "green rating" for mahallas was also discussed there. Its main criteria will be the share of green space, the number of trees per capita, the survival rate of new saplings, and the participation of the population in the process.
