An active two-month period of cleanliness and tidiness will be held in Uzbekistan starting October 1

An active two-month period of "Cleanliness and Tidiness" will be organized in Uzbekistan. This is specified in the president's decree dated September 23 on strengthening the role of mahallas in the implementation of the "Yashil Makon" (Green Space) nationwide project.

According to the decree, starting October 1, 2026, an active 2-month period of cleanliness and tidiness will be held in the republic.

Starting October 1, 2026, measures will be taken to determine the location of green areas, prepare lands, and create stocks of seedlings and shrubs; the planting season for seedlings and shrubs will begin:

From November 1, 2026, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region;

From November 5, 2026, in Bukhara and Navoiy regions;

From November 10, 2026, in Andijan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Sirdaryo, Namangan, Tashkent, and Fergana regions, as well as the city of Tashkent;

From November 20, 2026, in Surxondaryo and Qashqadaryo regions.

Starting January 1, 2027, the "Mahallani yashillashtirish" (Greening the Mahalla) package will be introduced within the framework of the "Yashil Mahalla" (Green Mahalla) project.

Within the framework of the "Yashil Mahalla" project, a forester-mentor employee will be assigned to mahallas by the Forestry Agency.

Members of the "mahalla seven" will be trained by the forester-mentor in short training courses once before the start of each planting season.

For reference, in Uzbekistan, the effectiveness of greening works within the framework of the "Yashil Makon" nationwide project is being determined to be evaluated based on the subsequent condition of the planted trees and seedlings.

The Committee on Ecology was instructed to develop "green maps" indicating the type of seedlings, planting location, and irrigation system for each mahalla and to announce them to the public. Additionally, together with mahalla chairpersons, the task of regularly monitoring the condition of trees and seedlings on every street, identifying the causes of drying up, and eliminating them was established.
