In the Kasbi district of the Qashqadaryo region, a 4-year-old girl died after being beaten by her foster mother. This information was confirmed by the office of the Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan.
It is reported that on September 26, a conflict occurred between spouses 38-year-old N. A. and 32-year-old I. S., during which the woman beat her foster daughter. The girl sustained a severe head injury and died on the same day.
On September 27, the investigative department of the district police department initiated a criminal case under paragraph "g" of part 8 of Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code — intentional infliction of life-threatening bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim. This crime carries a punishment of imprisonment from 10 to 12 years.
A preliminary investigation is underway. The suspect has been detained.
The office of the Children's Ombudsman reported that they are keeping the progress of the investigation under control.
