The State Security Service (SGB) reported that 48.5 kg of narcotics brought from Afghanistan were detected at the "Ayritom" border customs post in the Surxondaryo region.

Specifically, a Mercedes-Benz truck entering Uzbekistan from Afghanistan, driven by a citizen born in 1985 residing in the Termez district, was subjected to an in-depth inspection at the "Ayritom" border customs post.

During the inspection, it was revealed that a total of 39 kg 86 g of "hashish" and 9 kg 498 g of "opium" in 98 packages were hidden under the floor of the truck's trailer.

It is reported that to prevent the drugs from being detected, the drug traffickers first placed them in plastic bags. Then, the packages were wrapped in foil paper and secured with adhesive tape.

In connection with this situation, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 246, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (Smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues in large quantities).

Currently, measures are being taken within the framework of the investigation to identify the buyers of the seized narcotics.
