22 traffic accidents recorded in Tashkent in one day, 4 people seriously injured
On September 4, a total of 22 traffic accidents occurred in the city of Tashkent. As a result, 4 citizens sustained serious bodily injuries. On the same day, 4,751 violations of traffic rules were detected on the capital's roads.
According to the Traffic Management Center, 1,502,057 vehicles operated on the capital's streets during the day on September 4. This is 14,807 vehicles or 1 percent more compared to the 1,487,250 vehicles recorded on September 3.
During the day, public transport was deployed on 170 routes, carrying 1,228,158 passengers via 1,670 buses. Meanwhile, the Tashkent Metro transported 862,053 passengers to their destinations during the working day.
During peak hours, the congestion level reached 7 points at 6 intersections, and exceeded 7 points at another intersection. To stabilize the traffic flow in areas where congestion was observed, the operation of traffic lights was coordinated, and the green signal duration was extended in some directions. Additionally, traffic patrol officers were deployed to the intersections to regulate traffic.
The Center monitors the traffic flow and congestion levels on the capital's roads in real-time. Prompt changes are made to the operating modes of traffic lights depending on traffic intensity.
It was previously reported that on September 2, the traffic flow on Tashkent streets increased by 30 percent compared to a regular working day on August 24. Despite this, the overall congestion level across the city remained around 6 points.
In cases of increased queues in the traffic flow, the duration of the green light was extended at traffic lights in high-load directions, traffic light phases were readjusted, and neighboring intersections were coordinated with each other. This prevented the congestion from spreading to subsequent intersections.
