In Uzbekistan, state funding for film production has increased by more than 20 times over ten years. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at a meeting with representatives of the film industry at the Uzbekfilm film studio.
While 10 billion soums were allocated from the state budget for film production in 2016, this amount reached 218 billion soums in 2026.
The increase in funding has been part of measures to develop national cinema. Over the past ten years, two presidential decrees and eight resolutions have been adopted to support the industry.
According to the head of state, these measures helped increase the quantity and improve the quality of national films. In addition, dozens of private film studios have emerged in the film industry.
Speaking about the importance of the industry, Mirziyoyev noted that national cinema helps preserve the country's history and cultural heritage. He recalled films that have become part of the memory of several generations of Uzbekistanis, including "Bygone Days", "The Mischievous Boy", "Duel Under the Plane Tree", and "Suyunchi".
Separately, the president spoke about the transformations at the Uzbekfilm studio itself. According to him, about ten years ago it was in an unsatisfactory condition, so as part of the reforms, the studio was completely reconstructed and conditions were created for the work of filmmakers.
Earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented the famous film director Zulfikar Musakov with a three-room apartment measuring 88 square meters in the under-construction New Tashkent.
