17 universities transferred to the jurisdiction of another ministry

On October 2, 2026, the President signed Resolution No. PP-358 "On measures to further improve the management system of certain state higher education institutions."

According to the resolution, the departmental subordination of a total of 17 higher education institutions within the system of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Agency for Specialized Educational Institutions has been changed.

Meanwhile, the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan was renamed the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan named after Nizami Ganjavi.

Additionally, a number of tasks of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education in the field of pedagogical personnel training were transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.

From now on, this ministry will conduct the policy of training pedagogical personnel with higher education based on a single conceptual approach and will determine the main directions for the development of pedagogical education.

Furthermore, the ministry was also tasked with ensuring the continuity and consistency of pedagogical education, and introducing advanced pedagogical and information technologies into the educational process.

Developing research and innovative activities in the field of pedagogy, as well as continuously improving the management system of universities that train pedagogical personnel, were also included among its tasks.
