Tashkent Region to Modernize Public Transport in Six Cities

Tashkent Region is set to undertake a significant overhaul of its public transportation infrastructure across six key cities: Yangiyul, Angren, Akhangaran, Almalyk, Nurafshan, and Chirchiq. The Tashkent Region administration reported that this modernization initiative was presented to regional governor Zoir Mirzaev.

The proposed project outlines a multi-faceted approach to upgrading public transport, incorporating contemporary management strategies, streamlining route networks, enhancing the organization of transport corridors, and constructing up-to-date bus stops and integrated transport hubs.

Upon the completion of this extensive reorganization, daily public transport ridership is anticipated to surge from 298,600 to 533,000 passengers. This represents an projected increase of 234,400 daily passengers, or 78.5%.

As detailed in the presentation, this expected growth will stem not solely from the acquisition of new buses, but also from a complete restructuring of the transport system. This will involve the implementation of modern methodologies, optimized routes, and digital management.

A central component of the project is the establishment of a unified digital register. This system will manage critical operational data, including trip details, bus movements, passenger volumes, service frequencies, and subsidies for routes operating under gross contracts.

Furthermore, the initiative includes the development of transport development projections for the six cities for the years 2026, 2030, and 2035. A modern framework for evaluating public transport performance will also be introduced.

Authorities anticipate that these comprehensive measures will result in the creation of a safe, convenient, sustainable, and modern public transport system within Tashkent Region's major urban centers, ultimately improving travel experiences for residents and elevating the standard of transport services.
