Tashkent Initiates Final Stage of Taras Shevchenko Gastro Street Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The third and final stage of the gastro street construction on Taras Shevchenko Street has commenced in the Mirabad district of Tashkent, as announced by the district administration.

This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at establishing a modern tourist area, in line with a resolution from the Cabinet of Ministers and a decision made by the mayor of Tashkent.

In this phase, the reconstruction will focus on a 400-meter stretch from the intersection of Taras Shevchenko Street and Fidokor Street to the junction with Shakhrisabz Street.

Currently, demolition activities and site preparations for concrete paving are in progress. The reconstruction is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026.

The district administration noted that the project's completion is expected to enhance business prospects, foster the growth of the service industry, generate new employment opportunities, and boost the capital's attractiveness as a tourist hub.

The third phase will finalize the Taras Shevchenko gastro street project.

The second phase of the reconstruction was finished in June 2025, covering the area between Said Baraka and Nukus streets, where improved pedestrian zones, landscaping, fountains, gazebos, modern lighting, and surveillance cameras were installed.

The first phase of the project was launched in autumn 2024 after several delays, featuring the development of public spaces, photo zones, Wi-Fi access points, a video surveillance system, and a new public transport stop.
