Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a visit to the Dustlik mahalla in Bekabad as part of a working trip aimed at assessing the outcomes of redevelopment efforts along the Hos Yoz Canal and improvements to the local infrastructure.

Officials reported that the previously overlooked canal embankment has been revitalized into a contemporary public area that is easily accessible from nearby residential zones. As part of the comprehensive development master plan for the region, a 3-km pedestrian pathway, 5.4 km of protective fencing, and two bridges have been constructed.

The waterfront area now hosts 27 retail and service establishments, generating 167 permanent jobs. During his visit, the president engaged with young individuals participating in sports activities.

Mirziyoyev also toured the 28-hectare Dustlik mahalla, which comprises 33 apartment buildings, a private preschool, a football field, 16 sports and children's playgrounds, and a library.

This year, local entrepreneurs have invested 1.1 billion soums to establish 10 service businesses and one catering venue in the mahalla, resulting in the creation of 25 new jobs.

Residents have also taken the initiative to build the Vatanparvar Park, which includes displays of military equipment and service facilities.

With funding from the Initiative Budget programme, the mahalla has also set up the Bekabad City Museum. Additionally, a summer wooden pavilion has been constructed for labor veterans and elderly residents to host meetings, roundtable discussions, and educational events.

The president evaluated the completed projects and interacted with representatives from the mahalla and labor veterans. He emphasized that all development initiatives should enhance the quality of life for people and provide tangible benefits to the residents of cities and mahallas.

After concluding his activities in Bekabad, Mirziyoyev returned to Tashkent.
