Public transportation will be upgraded in six cities of the Tashkent region.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – A comprehensive modernization of the public transportation system is planned for the cities of Yangiyul, Angren, Akhangaran, Almalyk, Nurafshan, and Chirchik, located in the Tashkent region. The corresponding plan was presented to the governor of the region, Zoyir Mirzaev, according to the Tashkent regional administration.

The project includes upgrading the public transportation system based on advanced management principles, optimizing the route network, efficiently developing transport corridors, and creating modern bus stops and transfer hubs.

Upon completion of the comprehensive reorganization, the daily number of public transportation users is projected to increase from 298,600 to 533,000. This represents an expected increase in passenger traffic of 234,400, representing a 78.5% increase.

As emphasized during the presentation, achieving these indicators is planned not only through the acquisition of new buses, but also through a complete overhaul of the transport system using modern approaches, route optimization, and the introduction of digital management technologies.

As part of the project, a unified digital registry will be used to track trips, bus movements, passenger traffic, service intervals, and subsidies on routes operating under gross contracts.

Furthermore, transport system development forecasts for 2026, 2030, and 2035 will be developed for six cities, and a modern methodology for assessing public transport performance will be implemented.

The implementation of these measures is expected to create a safe, comfortable, sustainable, and modern public transport system in major cities of the Tashkent region, improve public transportation convenience, and elevate the quality of transport services to a qualitatively new level.
