The World Summit "Investing in Children’s Wellbeing: A Path to Sustainable and Equitable Development for Future Generations," organized on the initiative of First Lady of Uzbekistan Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, has kicked off in Samarkand. The forum is attended by first ladies from various countries, as well as high-ranking representatives of the UN, UNICEF, the World Bank, WHO, and other international organizations.

The creation of the Global Network to Support Children with Serious Illnesses was announced by Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo, Vice President of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (USA).

As noted, the Global Network brings together first ladies and spouses of heads of state for international cooperation and knowledge sharing to support children with serious and life-threatening illnesses, including cancer.

First Lady of Uzbekistan Ziroat Mirziyoyeva was elected Chairperson of the Global Network for a term of two years. The inauguration ceremony took place as part of the International Congress on Pediatric Oncology.

It is emphasized that this decision came as recognition of Uzbekistan's achievements in developing pediatric oncology services, as well as the active and leading role of Ziroat Mirziyoyeva in supporting children with cancer, ensuring their access to quality medical care, and creating conditions for the growth and development of every child, regardless of their life circumstances.
