Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he is planning to meet with Donald Trump in New York. He wrote about this on his Telegram channel on Sunday, September 20, following a telephone conversation with the US President.

Zelensky said that the two leaders agreed to meet face-to-face in New York. The Ukrainian President emphasized that this conversation would be important from the perspective of the peace process and "could change a lot."

At the same time, Zelensky did not disclose the exact date of the meeting. Donald Trump had also not officially confirmed the plan to meet with the Ukrainian President in New York by the time the news was published.

During the phone call, Zelensky thanked Trump for the recent visit of the US President's special envoys, Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Kyiv.

According to the Ukrainian President, important issues were discussed in detail during the meeting with the American representatives, and they had the opportunity to see the situation in Ukraine firsthand.

Zelensky noted that negotiations on a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine are a top priority for Kyiv.

The Ukrainian leader also thanked Trump for signing the "Lindsey Graham Act," which allows for increased sanction pressure on Russia.

Zelensky announced that Kyiv has a number of proposals on de-escalation and key security issues. These include measures related to energy and food security, as well as protecting human lives.

"We are working together with the American team and are ready to take truly serious steps," the Ukrainian President said.

Witkoff and Kushner met with Zelensky in Kyiv on September 6. This was the first visit of Donald Trump's special envoys to Ukraine since the start of his second presidential term.

A day before arriving in Kyiv, on September 5, the American representatives held three-hour negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
