Young parliamentarians from 183 countries of the world are coming to Samarkand

On September 4–6, the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will be held in the city of Samarkand. Organized at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the international conference is expected to be attended by about 300 participants from various countries around the world.

Young parliamentarians from 183 countries of the world are visiting Samarkand.

The conference is organized in cooperation with the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. It will be attended by representatives from 183 countries, 15 international organizations, and about 50 permanent observers.

Six sessions are planned to be held within the framework of the event. Additionally, a special open session on the topic "Participation of Parliaments in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals" will also take place.

In recent years, the country has been developing parliamentary diplomacy as one of the important directions of its foreign policy, expanding relations with foreign parliaments and international parliamentary organizations.

Holding the conference in Samarkand testifies to Uzbekistan's growing activity in international inter-parliamentary dialogue.

In particular, bringing young parliamentarians together in the international dialogue arena creates an opportunity to discuss topical issues from the perspective of the new generation. Topics such as human rights, justice, sustainable development, and the responsibility of parliaments to society constitute the main agenda of the conference.
