The 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will be held in Samarkand from September 4 to 6. Approximately 300 participants from 183 countries, 15 international organizations, and approximately 50 permanent observers are expected to attend.
The conference is organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The main theme of the event will be the restoration of human rights, justice, and human dignity in the face of current challenges.
Participants plan to discuss pressing global issues, human rights protection, maintaining peace and stability, and the contribution of youth to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The conference will also include the 3rd Global Forum on Interparliamentary Cooperation in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. This platform is expected to provide young parliamentarians with the opportunity to exchange experiences, propose specific initiatives, and establish practical cooperation.
An agreement was previously reported between Uzbekistan and the United States to expand interparliamentary contacts, including interaction between the legislative committees of both countries.
