As part of his state visit to South Korea, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with his compatriots. The interaction lasted about nine hours. Despite a very tight schedule and suggestions from his team to cancel the event, the head of state insisted on holding it and spoke about his schedule: according to him, in Korea he has to get up at four in the morning.
About 50 people participated in the meeting — scholars of the "El-Yurt Umidi" Foundation, entrepreneurs, young scientists, and students. The President told them about the development of Uzbek-Korean relations, listened to their proposals, and urged the youth to value their time of studying and living abroad, calling this period one of the happiest.
During the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev candidly shared details of his schedule. He said that during the visit he is forced to wake up at four in the morning, and the four-hour time difference with Uzbekistan takes a heavy toll on his well-being. The President joked that due to continuous speeches and the heavy workload, they do not even have time to serve him water.
In response to a remark from the audience that he looks good, the head of state replied with a smile: "I try, I try."
Despite the fatigue, Shavkat Mirziyoyev admitted that the meeting with his compatriots gave him strength.
"Until we get the work done, we will not stop — 40 million people are watching us," he emphasized.
The President also noted that the positive attitude and sincerity of the Korean partners inspire the entire Uzbek delegation.
The "Central Asia — Republic of Korea" summit is scheduled to take place in Seoul on September 16.
