Yaroslavl refinery suspended fuel shipments - Reuters
The "Slavneft-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez" (YANOS) refinery in the Russian city of Yaroslavl has suspended crude oil processing following a drone attack. As a result of the attack, one of the main units, which accounts for nearly 40 percent of the facility's capacity, was damaged.

According to Reuters, citing four sources in the industry, the YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl suspended crude oil processing on September 17.
This was caused by damage to the AVT-3 primary oil refining unit as a result of a drone attack on the plant. Its capacity is 17.1 thousand tons per day, which is equivalent to approximately 40 percent of the enterprise's total refining capacity.
The governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Yevrayev, reported that damage and a fire had occurred at the plant. Extinguishing the fire took several hours. No information was provided about casualties or injuries.
Another main unit at the plant, AVT-4, was also undergoing repairs following a previous drone attack on August 28. It accounts for 33 percent of the enterprise's capacity. Thus, two main units, which make up the majority of the refinery's total capacity, failed at the same time.
According to Reuters sources, following the attack, fuel produced at the Yaroslavl refinery was not put up for sale on the Russian domestic commodity exchange.
YANOS is considered one of the largest oil refining enterprises in Russia. Its design capacity is 15 million tons of oil per year, or approximately 300 thousand barrels per day. In 2024, the refinery processed 14.9 million tons of oil, including the production of 2.6 million tons of gasoline and 4 million tons of diesel fuel.
The enterprise has also been supplying fuel to the Moscow region.
In September, this became the second major oil refinery in this part of Russia to suspend operations due to drone attacks. According to DW, the Ryazan refinery also suspended fuel shipments starting from September 6.
