Yandex Uzbekistan plans to launch delivery via robots in Tashkent by the end of the year
Yandex Uzbekistan plans to involve robots in the fast delivery of Yandex Lavka orders in Tashkent by the end of 2026. This was announced by the head of the company, Izzat Shukurov, in response to an inquiry from the editorial office regarding preparation for the project.

Yandex Uzbekistan plans to launch delivery via robots in Tashkent by the end of the year
“We hope to launch the delivery by the end of the year. Currently, the delivery robots are undergoing the necessary testing phases. The robots will deliver groceries, prepared meals, and essential daily goods. Routes will be assigned to them only if they can meet the service's delivery time requirements,” said Izzat Shukurov.
Based on the results of the pilot project, the company plans to expand it gradually. In particular, it is envisioned to involve the robots in delivering orders from other services within the Yandex Uzbekistan ecosystem, as well as to offer this service to other companies.
When placing an order, the user will see its estimated arrival time in the app. The robot is designed for delivery distances of up to two kilometers and travels at the speed of pedestrian traffic.
In response to a question about how the robots will navigate the city, the company stated that they use lidars and ultrasonic sensors. The computing system processes the data received from the sensors, recognizes traffic light signals, and predicts the movement of surrounding objects. This allows the robot to independently choose a route, bypass obstacles, and cross the road at pedestrian crossings.
Six driving wheels help the robot negotiate curbs up to 10 centimeters high and road sections with uneven surfaces. According to the company, the robots are also able to operate in rainy weather.
The editorial team also inquired how the robot would act in emergency situations and whether it would need help from passersby.
“The robot can resolve most situations independently. If an off-normal situation arises, it contacts a remote operator. It is not recommended to lift or move the robot by hand, as it is quite heavy. A support service can be contacted via the QR code on its body — specialists will take the necessary measures,” the company explained.
Preparations for the project became known in July.
At that time, robots were spotted on the streets of Tashkent, and Yandex Uzbekistan confirmed that it was testing them to deliver Yandex Lavka orders.
