A court verdict has been announced against a woman who stabbed a mother and one of her daughters to death and injured another in the city of Shirin, Sirdaryo region.
The incident took place in April of this year. A 29-year-old woman living in the Amir Temur neighborhood inflicted severe stab wounds on the legal wife of her religious husband and her two minor daughters as a result of a conflict.
As a result, the woman and her 5-year-old daughter died, while the 3-year-old daughter was hospitalized. Relatives of the deceased stated that the woman also left behind an 8-year-old son and a 20-day-old baby.
According to Alisher Ergashev, chairman of the Shirin City Criminal Court, the dispute between the parties arose over the issue of having children. The woman, who had been living in a religious marriage with the man for six years, was constantly involved in arguments because children were regularly being born in her husband's legal family, while she herself was not allowed to have children.
"I was nervous, I closed my eyes and didn't know what I was doing," the defendant said at the court hearing.
According to the court verdict, the woman was found guilty of committing crimes provided for in the relevant paragraphs of Part 2 of Article 25, 97 (Attempted intentional homicide) and Part 2 of Article 97 (Intentional homicide under aggravating circumstances) of the Criminal Code.
Applying Article 57 of the Criminal Code (Imposition of a lighter penalty), the court sentenced the woman to 13 years and 4 months of imprisonment by partially combining the sentences imposed under Article 59 (Imposition of a penalty for committing several crimes). It was ordered that the sentence be served in general regime colonies.
